<br />Be it ordained by the Council of the City of Portsmouth, Virginia:
<br />
<br />1. That Chapter 37 of the Code of. the City of Portsmouth, Virginia, t961,~
<br />which includes articles 1 to 3 and sections 37-1 to 37-50, inclusive, as
<br />amended, is repsaled,
<br />
<br />2. That the Code of the City of Portsmouth, Virginia, 1~61, be amended
<br />by adding thereto, in lieu of the chapter, articles and sections of said
<br />code herein repealed, a new chapter nsmbered 37.1, new articles nuabered
<br />i to 2, both inclusive, which new chapter, articles mud sections are as

<br />ARTICLE I. WARDS AND ET,ECTION DISTPJCTS

<br />Sec, 37.1-1. Generally.
<br />
<br /> The city of Portsmouth shall not be divided into %.~_~ds but shall be
<br />divided into the folio%ring election districts or precincts, the resp.ective
<br />designation and boundaries of which shall be as p~ovided in this ~article.
<br />
<br />Sec. 37.1-2. Precinct No. 1 (Jefferson).
<br />
<br /> The boundaries of Precinct No. i shall be as fo. llows: Beginni.ng
<br />at a point wh~re the center line of High street projected easterly into
<br />the Elizabeth River intersects the eastern boundary .line of the city,
<br />and from thence running west along the center line of High Street to
<br />its intersection with the center li~ne of Washirgton Street, projected.
