ORDINANCE I?~OS!~G ~2'~ COLLECTING TAXES ON ~ ESTA~, T~G~ <br />P~ON~ PR0~ ~ ~ M~I'~Y ~ T~ ~N ~ L~TS OF ~ <br />C~ OF PO~SMD~, ~It'~ ~R ~ P~ OF ~SING ~ ~R <br />~ S~P0~ OF ~ GO~.~I~ ~ ~ PLBLIC ~ SCH~ ~ ~ PAY <br />I~T ~'~ Si~NG ~'~D ON ~ P~LIC D~T ~R ~ ~ B~qING <br />J~NU~Y 1, 1967. <br /> <br /> Be it ordained by the Council of the City of Portsmouth, <br />Virginia: <br /> <br /> 1. For the year beginning January 1, 1967, and for each <br />year thereafter until annulled by ordinance, the followirg tax shall <br />be placed on real estate, tangible personal property, and machinery <br />and tools within tile l~mits of the City of Portsmouth, for the purpose <br />of raising revenue for the support of the gove~ent and the public <br />free schools and to pay interest and sinkirg fund on the public debt. <br /> <br /> 2. The tax on real estate for the City of Portsmout2a~ <br />Virginia, shall be Two ($2.00) Dollars on each one hundred dollars <br />assessed valuation thereof. <br /> <br />3. Classification of Tangible Personal Property: <br /> <br /> (a) The fo!l~ing shall be classified as Targible Personal <br />Property and taked at the rate of Three ($3.00) Dollars on each one <br />hundred dollars assessed valuation thereof: <br /> <br /> (1) The aggregate number of horses, mules and other <br />kindred animals and the value thereof. <br /> <br />(2) ~he number of cattle and the value thereof. <br /> <br />thereof. <br /> <br />(3) The number of sheep and goats and the value <br /> <br />(4) The n~ber of hogs and the value thereof. <br /> <br /> (5) The aggregate number and value of all automobiles, <br />motor truck~ motorcycles and all other motor vehicles, excep5 any <br />vehicle %,~thout motive p~erused or designed to be Used as a mobile <br />home or office or for other means of habitation by any person. <br /> <br />and bicycles. <br /> <br />(6) The ~aggregate value of all animal drawn vehicles <br /> <br /> (7) The aggm~egate value of all farming implements and <br />tools of mechanics. <br /> <br /> <br />
