(2) An electrically operated switch or circuit-breaker provided the switch or circuit-breaker can be opened by ,hand in event of a failure of the power supply and the open and closed positions are clearly indicated to the operator. (e) Externally Operable. ~_n enclosed service switch or cir- cuit breaker shall be exterr~tly operable. See definition Article 100. It is recm~ended that where the current of a single cir- cuit, or group of circuits, is seperately metered, as in apartment house installations, devices be installed in a convenient location to control each separately metered installation, such devices being en- closed and the switch or circuit breaker being externally operable. (f) Indicating. The disconnecti~ means shall plainly in- dicate whetlner it is in the open or closed position. (g) Switch and Circuit Breaker. It may consist of not more than six switches or six circuit bres_kers i~ a cmwaon enclosure, or in a group of separate enclosures. Two or three single pole switches or breakers, capable of individual operation, may be installed on multi- wire circuits, one pole for each urgrouunded conductor, as one multipole disconnect [where applicable, see Sec'tion 230-70 (h)] provided they are ~quipped with "b~ndle ties," "handles vritbin 1/16 ~ch proximity," a "master handle," or "other means," ,.making it practical to disconnect all conductors of the service with no more than six operations of the hmnd. See Section200-5 and Section 384-16(a). (h) Simultaneous Openings. ~ne disconnecting means shall simul- taneously disconnect all ungrour~ed conductors, except for 3-wire direct- current or sit, lc-phase cimcuits or multiwire circuits that do not supply polyphase motors. See Section 200-5(a). (i) Disconnection of Grounded Conductor. V~ere the switch or circuit breaker does not interrupt.the ~rounded conducvor, other means shall be proa~ded in the service cabinet or on the switchboard fordis- connecting ~ne grounded con,actor frcm the interior wiring. 2.
