' · <br /> <br /> 1. That section 34-15 of the Code of the <br />City of Portamouth, Virginia, 19~61, be a.~ended <br />and reordained ~o read as follo~¥ . <br /> <br />Sec. 34-15. TaxLmeters - Generally. <br /> <br /> No motor vehicle shall be operated as a <br />taxicab without a ~axL~eter. ~1! taximeters <br />shall be kept in accurate and proper conditiO~ <br />and repair ar~ s~fficiently lighted s0that the <br />figures thereon shall be~plainty visible to the <br />passengers. TaxL~eters shall be in use atall <br />times within the city l~ts when passe~gers are <br />beirg transported. If any taxLmeter shali break- <br />dow~ or get out of repair, notice of such break- <br />down shall be given ~muediately~to the police ~ <br />division, and such taxicab shall be withdra~ <br />from service forth~lth. It shall be ~nl~'~ful <br />to operate a taxicab with a broken me,er. ~aeH <br />the taximeter ~s been repaired, no~icem.ther~ <br />shall be given to the police division, but such <br />taxicab shall not be revurned to service untiI~ <br />the police have approved t~ repairs to the taxi- <br />meter and authorized its return to service. <br /> <br /> 2.
