Sec. 26-33. Ordinary disability retirement. Any member in service ,~Cqo has ten or more years of creditable service may, at amy tZme on or after July 4 1966 sad before his normal retire- merit date, retire on accoomt of disability not compensable under the Virginia Wor~mmen's Compen- sation Act, apo~ ~a~itten notification to the board, made by the m~aber or bas appointing authority, setting forth at ~fnat time the retir~nent is to became effective; provided tb~t such effective 'date shall be after the last day of service but shall not be more than nf~nety days prior to the filing of such notice; and provided further, that the examiner, after a medical examination of such member, shall certify that such member is, and has been continuously since such effective date if prier to the filirg of such notice, mentally or physically incapacitated For the further perform- ance of duty and that such iacapacity is likely to be pem~_anent add that such member saouid be retired. Sec. 26-34. Or~/ma~y disability retirement allows~ce. Upon retirement as provided in section 26-33 on or after July 1, 1966, a member shall receive an annual retirement allowance payable monthly durimg his tifetL.~e and continued disability deter- mined in the same .manner as for normal service retirement, as provided in section 26-32, ~rith average final compensation beio~ dete_uuined as of the date of the marker's disability retirement, and credited service being determined as of the s~aller of:
