Sec 9-22. '~tstoric Build~" District ~kers--Design: agre~ent to display; erection and ~waintenance; cost. The first duty of tiae co~ssion shall be to design au~approprlate m~rker for the proposed "Olde To~e'' district and place such recomendation before City Council for adoption, ~!so, design ~u appropriate marker, bea~ir~ the seal of the City and words '~[istoric Buildirg", ~nd shall invite each o~aer of a historic building described in the invento~ and list provided for dn Section 9-22 to display the mar~r thereon. If such ov~aer agrees to display the marker, he shall signi~y au znstr~m n~ approved by the City Attorney, a copy of such ~.gneament by executing '' ' ~ ~ -~mich sha]l be ~iled Ln the of_~lce of the Buildir~ O~icial. Tn8 Buildirg Official thereupon shall cause to be erected ar~ tharea~%er sh~ll ~tain such r~rker on or ~ adjacent to such buildirg on which' Shall be inecribed the date of construction of the building aud the reason ~ay it is of historic interest. ~e 'cost of making, inscribL~, installing and maLutainL~ such marker shall be paid out of ~the appropriation made for the erection and maintens~uce of ~str~t sig~us. Sec. 9-23. Unauthorized display.. It shall be unla~ul for any person to display on any building, without the authorization of the co~aission, a marker provided f~r Ln Section 9-23 or any imitation thereof. Sec. 9-24. Procedure to ramove ma~er or damoiish building. The owner of a historic building who ~agrees to the display of ~a official ms, kef ~aall not remove the .~m~rker fr~m the build~ nor damolish the build~ nor alter its structural exterior appears~ce ~thout f~st applyirg to the Building Official for approva of such ~' ~ ' ' ~ ac~on. An application to r~uove an o~fzcial marker o~ to d~aolish or alter such ~uilding shall be made in ~iti~g by the ~.a~er of the building ~o the Buildirg Official c~u forms prescribed by hA.m, and he shall i~ediately fo~,~ard such application to the cc~mission for investigation s_nd report, ~¢nich report shall be made v~thin thirty day. s from the date on ~aich it was referred to th~ 9c~uission, for approval or dis- approval, Sec, 9-25.
