Section 37A-36. Water service connections and m~intenance. (a) New water service cormections Whenever application is made pursuant to section 37A-6 for the instal- ~er s~rvm.ce~.co~nnectmon,~ the applicaut s~mll make the payment ~er speclilea. The size and location of any such water ser- vice connection shs~l be determined by the director of public utilities. Such payment or deposit shall cover the following serv&ces, materials and labor: Installing water service connection be~zeen the ~ter main and the water me,er, shut-off valve at the me~er,outle~ fzttzug' ' on meter or meter- setter, meter box and meter, all of ~hich shall be o~ned and thereafter maintained by the department of public utilities. For the followiog sizes of service connection the indicated c~rge shall be paid in advance: 1 1 1/2 2 inch service connection .................... $ 50.00 inch service co~ection .................... 100.00 inch ~se~¢ice connection .................... 125.00 inch sera, ice connection .................... 150.00 Where the size of the service connection exceeds two inches, the appli- cant shall be required ~o pay a charge equal to the actual cost of such iustal- lation, plus ~en per cent. The director shall estimate the c~za~ge, and the applicant will deposit such amount before the ~ork is done. An accounting shall be made of the cost of such i~tallation. If the deposit is less t~han such charge, the applicant shall pay the difference within ter~days, and if the deposit is more than such charEoe the difference shall be refunded prmmptly. (b) Repair or replacement of existing ~ater service cor~uections. Whmuever ~4v existing ~ter service connection ~ich vas installed prior to July 1, 1562, requires m~intenance, repairs, replacement or e ~ nlargamen~ be- tween the ~atermainand the meter, such work shall be done by the department of public utilities, and the owner thereof shall be required to make the pa~- merit or deposit specified in subsection (a) hereof as ~f the ir~tallation of a new w~ter service connection was beirgmade; provided, however, if the w~ter flow at the meter is five gallons per minute or more per each dwe!li~g unit served or the ~.~ter service 1Lne between the meter and the fixtures in the buildirg is not capable of the s~me~flow, such work shall be paid for by the owner at cos~ to the de~tment of public utilities plus ten per cent. Any such water service connection shall be o~edand thereafter~inta~ed by the depar~nent of public utilities. (c) Repair of road damage between ~tar~main and meter. ~nenever an existing water se~ice line is d&msgedbecause of vm~cular traffic on the road ~ov~ t~e same or caw in the roadway between the ~ter main ~nd the meter, m~ s~lt be the responsmbility of the department o~ public utilities to repair such damage ~drsplace such lines as the situation requires.
