AM ORDIN.~_NCE TO ~2~'~D THE CODE OF THE CIRY OF PORTSMOUTH~ VIRGINIA, <br />1961, BY .@~fi~DING SECTIONS 2-6~ 2-10, 2-11~. 2-14, 2-15, 2-19, 2-22, <br />AND 2-23~ TH~REOF~ ALL P~TAI~--NG TO THE RULES OF ORDER~ 0~ THE COUNCIL. <br /> <br /> BE IT 0RDA~YED by the Coo_ncil of the City of Portsmouth, <br />Virginia, that sections 2-6~ 2-10, 2-11, 2-14, 2-15, 2-19~ 2-22, and <br />2-23 of the Code of the City of Portsmouth~ Virginia, 1961~ be <br />amended and reordained to read as follows: <br /> <br />Section 2-6. ~,~en reguls~ council meetings held; who may call <br /> special meeting. <br /> <br /> ~nere shall be regular meetings og the council on the <br />second and foo~thTo, esdays in each month,.~egir~nir~ at 7:30 P. M., <br />unless othe~ffse provided by special] resolution of the council. <br /> R!ne mayor, or any three members of the council, may call <br />a special meetipg. <br /> <br />Section 2-10. Order of business <br /> <br /> The order of business at all regular meetings shsJ_l be as <br />follows: <br /> (a) Reading, correction and ~oproval of minutes of pre- <br />vious meeting or meetings. <br /> (b) Reports of committees. <br /> (¢) Unfinished business (include under this head "report~ <br />of officers") <br /> (d) New business. If the council directs arav matter to be <br />the special business of any future meeting, the s~me shall be <br />announced by the msfyor at such future m~eting immediately after <br />the proceedings are read, smd shall have priority over all other <br />business. <br /> <br />Section 2-11. When motions, etc., to be written; reading motions, <br /> etc.; questions to ~e stated; withdlra~l of motion, etc. <br /> <br /> Every motion or proposition shall be reduced to writing if <br />desired by the mayor orby ar4v member of the coo~ncil, and shall <br />be delivered to the clerk's table to be there read. The question <br />shall be stated by the chair before the same shall be debated. Bmy <br />motion or proposition may be withdra~^m by the mover at any time <br />before a decision, amendment or other action of the body upon it, <br />with leave of his second. <br /> <br /> <br />
