(a) Carnivals: Every person ~to exhibits perfo~rances in <br />a carnival as defined in Section 58-277 of the Code of Virginia, <br />1950, as amended, in the City of Portsmouth, shall pay a license <br />tax of $180 per day that such carnival exhibits in the said city. <br /> <br /> (b) Circuses: Every person who exhibits performances of <br />a circus or circuses and ~.lenagerie or wild west show in the City <br />of Portmmouth, shall pay a license tax of $180 par day that such <br />circus exhibits in the said city. <br /> <br /> Trained Animal Shows: Every person who shall exhibit <br />Psrformances of trained s~n/mal shows in the City of Portsmouth shall <br />pay a license tax of $75 per day that such trained ~1 show shall <br />exhibit in said city. <br /> <br /> Provided, however, that eac~ person who exhibits perfo~nces <br />as described in this section shall, before beginning operation in the' <br />City of Portsmou~h~ post a surety bond in the amounz of $500, which <br />bond shall assure faithful compliance by the licensee with all of <br />the laws of ~he city pertair~ to revenue and regulations ~ <br /> <br />Section 59. Cleaning, Pressing, ~yeing s~nd Latundry - Local: <br /> <br /> Every per, on who shall engage in~ the business of cleaning, <br />pressing, dyeir~, and latunder~_~, which sb~21 include cleauing and <br />blockJang of hats, dyeing ctoth~ng material or garments, smd cle~nirg <br />rugs and ~ture slna!l pay a license tax of $50 on the firs~ <br />$5,000.00 of gross receipts s_nd in additiom thereto, $.30 per $100 <br />on all additiorz~l gross receipvs. <br /> <br />Section 60. Clearfang, Pressing, Dyeim~ and Latu~y - <br /> Non-Local: <br /> <br /> Every person engaged in the business of d~ cles~ning, press- <br />ing, dyeing, laundering, c!e ~aning rugs, or clear~ng furnitume, who <br />does such work outside of the City of Portsmouth shall pay a license <br />tax of $425.00 per mnnum for each office or place Ln the City of <br />Portsmouth used for receivL~ ~d/or delivering such work. Not <br />prorated. <br /> <br /> Notvrithstsmdi~ the foregoing provisions, a license tax of <br />$60.00 per annum for each office or place in the'City of Portsmouth <br />used for receiving and/or deliver/rg such work, shall be imposed under <br />t~kis section upon any person operating such busihess in an adjoinLng <br />city, ~nd ha~zing his plant in such adjo~ ~airg city~ where such city <br />i~ooses a sLmilar license ts~x upon s~ny merson operatLng his business <br />in and payir~ a licem~e tax L~the City-of Portsmouth ~nd haviu~ his <br />plant Ln Portsmouth, a~nd engaged in such business in both cities. <br />Not prorated. <br /> <br /> <br />
