CERTIFICATES° <br /> <br /> The Inspector shall issue a certificate of approval s.t the com- <br />pletion of the wortk for wlnich a permit for const~mer piping has been is- <br />sued, if after inspection it is found that such work con,plies with the <br />provisions of this or~linsnse. A duplicate of each cer~sificate issued <br />covering consumer's gas pipiDg shall be delivered to the Gas Co=~any <br />and used as its authority to render gas service. <br /> <br />Sec. 17. VIOLATIONS ~D PF~6T~ES. <br /> <br /> Any person that shall fail to co~.~01y with or violate any of the <br />provisions of this ordinscace shall be guilty of a misdemeanor, and upon <br />conviction thereof shall be pur~shed in accordsmce with Section 7-1 of <br />the Code of the City'of Por~smouth. <br /> <br />Sec. 18. NON-LIABI~_~TY OF CITY. <br /> <br /> ~nis ordinance shall not be construed as in~osipg upon the City <br />of,Port~smouth tony liability or responsibility for damages to any person <br />injured by ar4v defect in any gas piping or applis_nce mentioned herein,' <br />or by installation thereof, nor shall the City of Portsmouth, or ar~ <br />official or employee thereof, be held as asst~mdng arff such liability or <br />responsibility by reason of the inspection authorized heremider or the <br />certificate of approval issued by the Inspector. <br /> <br />Sec. 19. VALIDITY. <br /> <br /> If any section, sub-section, sentence, clause or phrase of this <br />ordinance is, for any reason held to be unconstitutional or invalid, <br />such holding shall not affect the valiUity of the remaining portion of <br />this ordinmnce. <br /> <br />Sec. 20. DEFINITIONS. <br /> <br /> The followin~ d~fmnmtmons, along ~ith those 'contained ir~ the Gas <br />Code, are provided for the purpose of interpretation and adzainistration <br />of this ordinance: <br /> <br /> (a) "Lnspector" memns the person appointed as Inspector, and <br />shall include eac_b Assistant Inspector. <br /> <br /> (b) "Person" means s_ny inU~vidual, pea~nership, firm, corporation, <br />or ar~~ other orgsmized group of individuals. <br /> <br />(c) "Gas Co~.~o~any" means any pc_ son 5istrmbutmng gas. <br /> <br />-5- <br /> <br /> <br />
