(c) Ar~thing herein to the contrary notwithstanding, any fire- <br />fighter or policeman ~o appears as a witness, when not on a regular as- <br />signed period of du~y, in any criminal case in any court in the City of <br />Portsmouth shall be paid a witness fee of $5.00 for each such appearance; <br />provided however, that only ~those firefighters and policemen who are neces- <br />sary to the prosecution of 'the case may be paid such witness fee in con- <br />nection with the trial of any particular case; 'and further provided how-~ <br />ever, that no firefighter or policeman shall be paid more than one such <br />witness fee per day regardless of how many cases or courts he may be re- <br />quired to appear or testify in. Such appearances sbm_ll be certified by <br />the Clerk of the Court to the Fire Chief or the Police Chief, respective- <br />ly, who shall report same to the City Auditor on such forms and at such <br />times as the City Auditor may prescribe. <br /> <br /> (d) Anything herein to the contrary notwithstanding, ar~ fire- <br />fighter or policeman who is required to wear civilian clothes in the regu- <br />lar performance of his official duties shall be paid an additional %~enty <br />and no/100 Dollars ($20.00) per month as a clothing allowance. <br /> <br /> (e) Anything herein to the contrary notwithstanding, any poli6e- <br />man who has been awarded the Associate Arts Degree in Law Enforcement shall <br />be paid an additional Five Hundred mud no/100 Dollars ($500.00) per annum, <br />such sum to be paid in equal installn~nts at the same time as the base <br />salary is paid. <br /> <br /> · (f) The additional co~0ensation authorized under subsectiorm (b). <br />(c), (d) and (e) above shall be in addition to all .other corspensation, al' ' <br />lowances and payments authorized by this or tony other ordinsnce or law. <br /> <br />Section ll. Complement.. <br /> <br /> (a) The authorized con%01ement of the Fire Department shall be <br />one Cb_ief, one Deputy Chief, ~en Assistant C~hiefs, tbzLrty-five Captains, <br />thirty-five Engineers, and One hundred thirty Privates. <br /> <br /> (b) The aut~horized con%olement of the Police Department shall be <br />one Chief, one Deputy Chief, ten Captains, twelve Lieutenants, twenty-sLx <br />Sergeants, and one hundred thirty-seven PatroLr~en. <br /> <br />Section 12.
