(c) Ar~thing herein to the contrary notwithstanding, any fire- fighter or policeman ~o appears as a witness, when not on a regular as- signed period of du~y, in any criminal case in any court in the City of Portsmouth shall be paid a witness fee of $5.00 for each such appearance; provided however, that only ~those firefighters and policemen who are neces- sary to the prosecution of 'the case may be paid such witness fee in con- nection with the trial of any particular case; 'and further provided how-~ ever, that no firefighter or policeman shall be paid more than one such witness fee per day regardless of how many cases or courts he may be re- quired to appear or testify in. Such appearances sbm_ll be certified by the Clerk of the Court to the Fire Chief or the Police Chief, respective- ly, who shall report same to the City Auditor on such forms and at such times as the City Auditor may prescribe. (d) Anything herein to the contrary notwithstanding, ar~ fire- fighter or policeman who is required to wear civilian clothes in the regu- lar performance of his official duties shall be paid an additional %~enty and no/100 Dollars ($20.00) per month as a clothing allowance. (e) Anything herein to the contrary notwithstanding, any poli6e- man who has been awarded the Associate Arts Degree in Law Enforcement shall be paid an additional Five Hundred mud no/100 Dollars ($500.00) per annum, such sum to be paid in equal installn~nts at the same time as the base salary is paid. · (f) The additional co~0ensation authorized under subsectiorm (b). (c), (d) and (e) above shall be in addition to all .other corspensation, al' ' lowances and payments authorized by this or tony other ordinsnce or law. Section ll. Complement.. (a) The authorized con%01ement of the Fire Department shall be one Cb_ief, one Deputy Chief, ~en Assistant C~hiefs, tbzLrty-five Captains, thirty-five Engineers, and One hundred thirty Privates. (b) The aut~horized con%olement of the Police Department shall be one Chief, one Deputy Chief, ten Captains, twelve Lieutenants, twenty-sLx Sergeants, and one hundred thirty-seven PatroLr~en. Section 12. Effective date of o~din~nce.
