and, provided, further, that such employee contributes to the <br />retirement allowance account a sum equal to the amount he <br />would have contributed had he been a member of the system <br />during the period for which coverage is desired, anything in <br />section 26-70 to the contrary not withstanding. Such contri- <br />butions shall be refundable in accordance with section 26-82. <br /> <br />2.
