Section 31-37. Protective Measures; the general public. <br /> <br /> The permittee shall by adequate barricades, fencing, railway, <br />passways, lights or any othe~ necessary safety equilmnent protect the <br />public frcm injury. Such protective measures sb~%ll be maintained unt~] <br />the city oa~,~ces resurfacing such area or until the city accepts such <br />area without further resurfacing. <br /> <br />Section 31-37.1 Same; traffic. <br /> <br /> The pen~ittee shall not block or reroute traffic without the <br />permission of the traffic engineer and will route and control such traffic <br />as directed by the traffic enginse, r. Warning signs, cones, flagmen or <br />any ot/uer necessary traffic control device sball be m~inemined and positicaed <br />at such sibe so as to protect motorists at all times during which traffic <br />flow is or may be disturbed. <br /> <br />Sectien 31-37.2. S~me; utilities. <br /> <br /> The permittee shall not interfere with any existi~ utiti~t <br />without the writte~ consent of the city engineer and the utility ua%%pany <br />or person ow~ ~the utility. If it becc~es necessary to r~move an <br />existing utility'this shall be done by its owner. No utility owned by the <br />city shall be moved to accuL~date the permittee unless the oost of such <br />work be berne by the pezmittee. The cost of moving privately owned <br />utilities sb~_ll be similarly berne by the permittee unless it makes other <br />arrangements with the person ownirg t/~e utility. The permittee shall sup- <br />port and protect by tir~0ers or otherwise all pipes, conduits, poles, wires, <br />or other apparatus ~]ich may be in any way affected by the excavation work, <br />aD~ do everything necessary to support, sustain and ~rotect them under, <br />over, along or acress said work. In case any of said pipes, conduits, <br />poles, wires or apparatus should be ds~aged, they shall be re~4red by the <br />agency or person owning them and the expense of such repairs shall be <br />charged to the permittee, and his or its bond sb~all be liable therefor. <br />The permittee shall be responsible for any damage done to any public or <br />private property by reason of the breaking of any water pipes, sewer, gas <br />pipe, ei~ctric conduit or other utility and its bond shall be liable ths~e- <br />for. The permittee shall inform itself as to the existence and location <br />of all underground utilities and p~otect the ss~ae against damage. <br /> <br />Sectien 31-37.3.
