In addition to such other requirements as may be reasonably imposed by the Director through ~ules and Regulations pro- mulgated ~ereunder, the Director shall ~ot issue a permit to consLruct or approve the construction of any swimming pool or any alteration, addition, remodeling or other im- provement 5o a swimming pool hereunder unless the following design and construction requirements are observed in such construction and swimming ~Qots shall be constructed and maintained in conformity with the following requirements: (a) Mater~at. The material used for linisg artificial sw~mmin~ pools shall be one which is light in color, is impervious, and will provide a tight tank with smooth and easily cleaned surfaces. Sand or dirt bottoms therefor are prohibited. (b) Walls, ~arkings and Slope. ~he walls of the pool shall be vertical. Conspicuous markings shall be provided showin~ the location and de~th of the shallow and deep portions, and the location and depth of the points where the slope of the bottom of the pool changes. Special markings shall be necessary for large and odd shaped pools as pre- scribed by the Director. (c) Overflow Gutters. Overflow gutters shall be p~ovided extending completely around the pool, having adequate drainage of overflow water away from the pool. (d) Inlets and Outlets. Ail pools shall be provided with at least two outlets at the deepest point of sufficient size te permit the pool to be completely drained or e~ptied, as prescribed by the Director~ The outlet openings in the floor of the pool shall be designed and located to reduce suction currents and shall be covered with a proper grating. Inlets for fresh or repurified water shall be suk- merged and located so as to produce as nearly as possible a 'uniform circulation of water through the entire pool.
