AN ORDINANCE ~ A~iEND THE ZO~]ING ORDINANCE OF <br />CITY OF PO~TSI4OUTH, 1961, BY A~ENDING SECTION 5-8 <br />THEF~EOF, PROVIDING MINIMUM PLOT WIDTHS FOR ROW <br />HOUSES Iiq THE RESIDENTIAL R-60 AND R-60-A DISTRICTS. <br /> <br /> Be it ordained by the Council of the City of Portsmouth, <br />Virginia, ~hat the Zoning Ordinance of the City of Portsmouth, <br />1961, be amended by amending Section 5-8 thereof, such amended <br />section to read as fellows: <br /> <br />Section 5-8. <br /> <br />Residential R-60 and Residential R-60-A Distric~ <br />Dimensional Requirements. <br /> <br /> within the Residential R-60 and Residential R-60-A Dis- <br />tricts as .shown on the Zoning l~Iap, all the following dimensional <br />requirements shall be complied with: <br /> <br /> (a) Minimum required plot area for dwelling types <br />other than row houses .......... 6,000 square feet. <br /> <br /> (b) ~inimum required plot area for row houses only <br />.......... 2,0~0 square feet; except that as an alternate method <br />of development, a subdivision of row houses may be approved without <br />a minimum plot size requirement, provided that the m~imum number <br />of plots per acre shall not exceed 20 plots per gross acre and ~11 <br />other dimensional requirements set forth by this section which are <br />applicable to row houses are followed. "Gross acre" shall not in- <br />clude any public street right of way properly dedicated and accept- <br />ed for m~intenance by the City. <br /> <br />(c) Minimum required plot width for row houses only: <br /> <br />Interior Pl~ts ..... Minimum average width for all interior plots <br /> within a row - 20 fee~ minim~width- 16 feet. <br /> <br />End Plots .......... Minimum width 25 feet. <br /> <br /> (d) Maximum allowable floor area devoted to residential <br />purposes for structures other than row houses in the Residential <br />R-60 and R-60~A Districts shall be one-half of the plot area; pro- <br />vided, however, that in the Residential R-60 and R-60-A Districts, <br />upon approval of the Planning Commission after submission of site <br />plan and general characteristics of the building, the maxlm~m~ al- <br />lowable floor area devoted to residential purposes for a b~ilding <br />exceedinq three stories above the ground level in which elevators <br />are provided shall be equal to the plot area. <br /> <br /> <br />
