AN ORDINANCE TO AMEND.THECODE OFTHE CITY OF PORTSMOUTH, VIR- <br />GINIA, 1961, BY AMENDING SECTION 37A-28 AND BY REPEALING <br />SECTIONS 37A-27, 37A-29 AND 37A-30 THEREOF, ABOLISHING THE <br />PORTSMOUTH AND SUFFOLK WATER SERVICE DIVISIONS. <br /> <br /> Be it ordained by the Council of the City of Ports- <br />mouth, Virginia: <br /> <br />1. That Section 37A-28 of the Code of the City of Portsmouth, <br />Virginia, 1961, be amended and reordained to read as follows: <br /> <br />Sec. 37A-28. Payment of water bills generally. <br /> <br /> Ail quarterly accounts shall be billed on a cycle <br />of approximately ninety days. Bills for water .supplied in <br />such division, including charges for sewage disposal service <br />and utility taxes based thereon, if any, are due and payable <br />upon presentation, and if not paid within fifteen days from <br />billing date, the service may be discontinued without further <br />notice. <br /> <br /> Payment of such bills shall be made at the office <br />of the department of public utilities on the days and during <br />the hours %he~eof ~the off-ice is op%~n-for~wusiness, or such <br />payment may be made at any collection agency established by <br />the director of public utilities for that purpose on the days <br />and during the hours thereof such collection agencies are open <br />for business. <br /> <br /> Payment of such bills at collection agencies and regu- <br />lations and accounting procedures pertaining thereto'shall be <br />as prescribed by the director of public utilities. Each col- <br />lection agency shall be bonded in the amount of two thousand <br />dollars and the bond and contract of appointment shall be ap- <br />proved as to form by the city attorney. <br /> <br />2. That Sections 37A-27, 37A-29 and 37A-30 are hereby repealed. <br /> <br /> Adopted by the Council of the City of Portsmouth, Vir- <br />ginia, at a meeting held September 28, 1971. <br /> <br />Teste: <br /> <br />City Clerk <br /> <br /> <br />
