AN ORDINANCE FOR PROVIDING FOR THE CLASSIFICATION <br />OF EMPLOYMENT AND A COMPENSATION PLAN FOR EMPLOYEES OF THE <br />CITY. <br /> <br /> Be it ordained by the Council of the City of Ports- <br />mouth, Virginia: <br /> <br />Section 1. Employees classified. <br /> <br /> On and after October 1,' 1971, all employees of the <br />City of Portsmouth shall be classified according to the kind <br />and type of work performed by them and as provided in this <br />ordinance. <br /> <br />Section 2. How compensation determined. <br /> <br /> The compensation of each employee shall be based on <br />his classification and shall be determined according to the <br />compensation plan hereinafter set forth and the other provisions <br />of this ordinance° <br /> <br />Section 3.
