AN ORDINANCE TO AMEND THE CODE OF THE CITY OF PORTSMOUTH, VIRGINIA, 1961, BY REPEALING SECTION 37A-37 THEREOF, IMPOSING TAP CHARGES, AND BY AMENDING SECTIONS 37A-20, 37A-36, AND 37A-46, INCREASING RATES FOR WATER SERVICE, WATER SERVICE CONNECTIONS AND FIRE HYDRANTS. Be it ordained by the Council of the City of Portsmouth, Virginia: 1. That Section 37A-37 of the Code of the City of Portsmouth, Vir- ginia, 1961, is hereby repealed. 2. That Sections 37A-20 37A-36 and 37A-46 of the Code of the City of Portsmouth, Virginia, 1961, be am nded and reordained to read as follows: Section 37A-20. Meter rates for water supplied. (a) For all water which passes through the meters, the consumers within the corporate limits of the City of Portsmouth and within the City of Suffolk service area shall pay the follow- ing rates: (1) For the first fifteen thousand cubic feet used in any one month, thirty-three cents per hundred cubic feet. (2) For any next quantity in excess of fifteen thousand cubic feet used in any one month, twenty-four cents per hundred cubic feet. The minimum charge for water used, exclusive of the ready-to-serve charge, shall be One and 32/100 ($1.32) Dollars per month. (b) For all water which passes through the meters, the consumers outside the corporate limits of the City of Portsmouth and the City of Suffolk shall pay the following rates: (1) For the first fifteen thousand cubic feet used in any one month~ sixty-six cents per hundred cubic feet. (2) For any next quantity in excess of fifteen thousand cubic feet used in any one month, twenty-four cents per hundred cubic feet. The minimum charge for water used, exclusive of the ready-to-serve charge, shall be Two and 64/100 ($2.64) Dollars per month.
