~!~ 1972 37 <br /> <br />AN ORDINANCE TO ~%~END THE CODE OF THE CITY OF PORTSMOUTH, VIR- <br />GINIA, 1961, BY AMENDING SECTIONS 3-1, 3-2, 3-3, 3-4, 3-6 AND <br />3-13 THEREOF PERTAINING TO ANIMALS AND FOWL. <br /> <br /> He it ordained by the Council of the City of Ports- <br />mouth, Virginia: <br /> <br /> 1. That the Code of the City of Portsmouth, Virginia, <br />1961, be amended and reordained to read as follows: <br /> <br />Sec. 3-1. Appointment, powers and duties, term and salary <br /> of game wardens. <br /> <br /> The city manager shall appoint ex-officio game ward- <br />ens for the city who shall hold office during the pleasure of <br />the city manager and who shall receive such salary as may be <br />fixed by the city council. The game wardens shall have police <br />powers and be charged with the duty to enforce the provisions <br />of this chapter as well as the hunting, trapping, inland fish <br />and dog laws of the state. <br /> <br /> Sec. 3-2. Dangerous or mischievous animals. <br /> <br /> It shall be unlawful for any person to allow any ani- <br /> mal belonging to him, or under his control, and known to him to <br /> be dangerous or mischievous, to go at large in the city. <br /> <br />Sec. 3-3. Keeping horses, cows, etc. <br /> <br /> No person shall keep horses, cows, goats, sheep, <br />swine or other livestock within the city except in strict com- <br />pliance with the zoning ordinance. <br /> <br />Sec. 3-4. Allowing horses, cows, etc., to run at large. <br /> <br /> It shall be unlawful for any person to allow horses, <br />cows, goats, sheep, swine or other livestock to run at large <br />· n the city. <br /> <br />Sec. 3-6. Fowl at large. <br /> <br /> it shall be unlawful for any person to allow any fowl <br />to run at large in the city. <br /> <br />Sec. 3-13. Killing or injuring birds. <br /> <br /> It shall be unlawful for any person to kill or injure <br />any birds or destroy or in]ure the nest of eggs of any birds for <br /> <br /> <br />
