AN ORDI~kNCE TO AMEND THE CODE OF THE CITY OF PORTSMOUTH, VIR- <br />GINIA, 1961, BY REPEALING SECTION 2-40 THEREOF AND BY AMENDING <br />SECTIONS 2-31, 2-35 AND 2-37 THEREOF PERTAINING TO EMPLOYEES <br />AND OFFICERS OF THE CITY OF PORTSMOUTH. <br /> <br /> Be it ordained by the Council of the City of Ports- <br />mouth, Virginia: <br /> <br /> 1. That the Code of'the City of Portsmouth, Vir- <br /> <br />ginia, 1961, <br /> <br /> 2. <br />ginia, 1961, <br /> <br />be amended by repealing Section 2-40 thereof. <br /> <br />That the Code of the City of Portsmouth, Vir- <br />be amended and reordained to read as follows: <br /> <br />Sec. 2-31. Residence requirements. <br /> <br /> Ail officers and employees except those who require <br />special technical or professional training shall reside within <br />the city during their continuance in any office or employment; <br />providedr that any person employed or appointed to fill any <br />such office who, at the time of such employment or appointment, <br />does not reside within the city, shall become a resident of the <br />city within six months from the date of such employment or ap- <br />pointment. If any such officer or employee shall cease to be <br />a bona fide resident of the city, his office or employment shall <br />be deemed to have been vacated. <br /> <br />Sec. 2-35. Annual leave. <br /> <br /> (a) There shall be granted to each <br />officer and employee of the city annual leave <br />at the rate of one day of annual leave for <br />each continuous calendar month of employment. <br /> <br /> (b) In addition to the annual leave <br />benefits provided in subsection (a) above, <br />each officer and employee who shall have <br />completed the specified number of calendar <br />years of continuous employment shall be en- <br />titled to additional annual leave in accord- <br />ance with the following schedule: <br /> <br />(1) Seven years, two days. <br />(2) Ten years~ three days. <br /> <br /> <br />
