D~N ORDIN~kNCE TO A~4END THE CODE OF THE CITY OF PORTSMOUTH, VIRGINIA, <br />1961, BY ~[ENDING SECTIONS 18-259, 18-260, 18-261, 18-262, 18-263, <br />18-264, 18-266, 18-267, 18-268, 18-269, 18-270, 18-271 AND 18-272 <br />THEREOF PERTAINING TO BICYCLES AND THEIR REGISTRATION AND OPERATION. <br /> <br /> Be it ordained by the Council of the City of Ports- <br />mouth, Virginia: <br /> <br /> 1. That the Code of the City of Portsmouth, Vir- <br />ginia, 1961, be amended and reordained to read as follows: <br /> <br />Sec. 18-259. Manner of registration; record of registration. <br /> <br /> The registration of bicycles shall be upon written <br />application therefor made to the chief of police on forms pres- <br />cribed by him and shall be made by the owner thereof or if the <br />owner is under 18 years of age, the same may be made for him by <br />his parents or guardian. Upon proper application and the pay- <br />ment of the registration fee hereinafter provided, the chief <br />of police shall mssue to such applicant a registration card <br />and also a number plate or decal in form prescribed by the <br />chief of police and said number plate or decal shall be kept <br />securely fixed in a conspicuous place on the rear of the frame <br />of said bicycle for which issued. It shall be unlawful to at- <br />tach any such number plate or decal to any bicycle other than <br />the one for which the same was issued. <br /> <br /> The chief of police shall keep a complete record of <br />all bicycles registered pursuant to this article, showing the <br />name and address of the owner thereof, the make, class and <br />frame number of such bicycle, the number of the registration <br />plate or decal issued therefor, and such other information as <br />the chief of police may prescribe. <br /> <br />Sec. 18-260. Lost or mutilated number plates or decals. <br /> <br /> When any number plate or decal is badly mutilated, <br />lost, stolen or misplaced and cannot be found, upon satisfact- <br />ory evidence of such fact being presented to the chief of police, <br />he shall issue another number plate or decal and shall change <br />the registration of said bicycle accordingly. <br /> <br />Sec. 18-261. Fees. <br /> <br /> When a bicycle is registered there shall be paid the <br />sum of one dollar. ~fnen the registration is changed from one <br />person to another, or from one bicycle to another, there shall be <br /> <br /> <br />
