AN ORDINANCE TO A~END SECTION 13-27 OF THE CODE OF THE CITY <br />OF PORTSMOUTH, VIRGINIA, 1961, PERTAINING TO BILLING AND <br />COLLECTION PROCEDURES FOR TRASH AND GARBAGE COLLECTION <br />SERVICE. <br /> <br /> Be it ordained by the Council of the City of <br />Portsmouth, Virginia: <br /> <br /> 1. That Section 13-27 of the Code of the City of <br />Portsmouth, Virginia~ 1961, be amended and reordained to <br />read as follows: <br /> <br />Section 13-27. Billing and Collection Procedures. <br /> <br /> (a) The service charge under Section 13-19.1 <br />shall be billed quarterly and the minimum service charge <br />under Section 13-21 shall be billed quarterly in advance. <br />[~here the service under Section 13-21 exceeds the minimum, <br />additional bills will be rendered at the end of each month <br />for the excess service. <br /> <br /> (b) The minimum service charges under Section <br />13-21.1, 13-22, and 13-23 shall be billed monthly in ad- <br />vance. ~here such a service exceeds the minimum., additional <br />bills will be rendered at the end of each month for the <br />excess service. <br /> <br /> (c) The director shall render bills for service <br />charges under sections 13-24 and 13-25 monthly. <br /> <br /> (d) Where the amount of excess service charges <br />of %he service charges under Section 13-24 or 13-25 warrant, <br />the director may require an advance deposit against future <br />service charges. <br /> <br /> (e) Ail bills rendered under Section 13-19.1 are <br />due and payable at the office of the depar~m~ent of public <br />utilities upon presen~aent and shall be considered delinquent <br />if not paid within fifteen days of the date issued. Ail other <br />bills rendered under this article are due and payable at <br />the office of the city treasurer upon presentment an~ shall <br />be considered delinquent if not paid within fifteen days <br />of the date issued. If any bill is not ps~d within such <br />fifteen day period, an additional charge of ~%, per billing <br />period, on the unpaid charges shall be added thereto and <br />collected therewith to cover costs of collection. <br /> <br />(f) The director shall discontinue collecting <br /> <br /> <br />
