AN OF~INANCE TO AP!END THE CODE OF THE CiTY OF PORTSMOUTH, VIRGINIA, <br />1961~ BY AMENDING SECTIONS 18-318, 18-321~ 18-322, 18-323, 18-324, <br />18-325 AND 18-330 THEREOF PERTAINING TO LICENSE TAXES FOR MOTOR <br />VEHICLES, TRAILERS AND SEF~ITRAILERS. <br /> <br /> Befit ordained by the Council of the City of Portsmouth, <br />Virginia: <br /> <br /> 1. That the Code of the:City of Portsmouth, Virginia, <br />1961, be amended and reordained to read as follows: <br /> <br />Section 18-318. Tax on vehicles designed and used for <br /> transportation of passengers - schedule. <br /> <br /> The annual license tax for motor'vehiclesr trailers and <br />semiltrailers, designed and used for the transportation of pas- <br />sengers upon the streets of this city shall be as follows: <br /> <br /> (1) $15.00 for a private motor vehicle other than a <br />motorcycle with a normal seating capacity of not more than ten <br />persons, including the driverr if such private motor vehicle is <br />not used for the transportation of passengers for compensation <br />and is not kept or used for rent or for hire, or is not operated <br />under a lease without a chauffeur. <br /> <br /> (2) 30 cents per one hundred pounds of weight or major <br />fraction thereof for a private motor vehicle other than a motor- <br />cycle with a normal seating capacity of more than ten adult persons <br />including the driver, if such private motor vehicle is not used for <br />the transportation of passengers for compensation and is not kept <br />or used for rent or for hire or is not operated under a lease with- <br />out chauffeur. Provided that in no case shall the fee be less <br />than $15.00. <br /> <br /> (3) 30 cents per hundred pounds of weight or major <br />fraction thereof for a contract school bus, public or private; <br />provided that in no case shall the fee be less than $15.00. <br /> <br /> (4) $12.50 for trailer or semitrailer designed for use <br />as living quarters for human beings. <br /> <br /> (5) Subject to section 18-321 $5.00 in addition to eighty <br />cents per hundred pounds of weight or major fraction thereof for <br />each motor vehicle, trailer or semitrailer kept or used for rent or <br />for hire or operated under a lease without chauffeur for the trans- <br />portation of passengers. This subsection does not appty to vehicles <br />used as co~on carriers. <br /> <br /> <br />
