Section 26-76. Service retirement. <br /> <br /> (a) Any m~ber in service who either has attained his <br />normal retirement date or has completed twenty-five years of <br />creditable service may retire at any time then or thereafter, <br />upon written notification to the board, made by the member or <br />his employer, setting forth at what time the retirement is to be- <br />come effective; provided that such effective date shall be after <br />his last day of service, but shall not be more than ninety days <br />prior to or subsequent to the filing of such notice. <br /> <br /> (b) The provisions of subsection (a) of this section <br />to the contrary notwithstanding, any member remaining in service <br />after his normal retirement date who attains sixty-two years of <br />age shall be retired forthwith. <br /> <br /> (¢) Any member who terminated service as an employee <br />prior to retirement and <br /> <br /> (i) prior to July 1, 1973, but after the attain- <br />ment of age fifty and the completion of twenty years <br />of creditable service, or <br /> <br /> (ii) after June 30, 1973, and after the comple- <br />tion of ten years of creditable serice, <br /> <br />and who has attained the age of sixty-two may retire at any time <br />then or thereafter under the provisions of subsection (a) of this <br />section, except that the requirement for the member to be in <br />service shall not apply. <br /> <br /> 2.
