Principal. The word ~'principal" shall be taken to <br />apply to the person charged with violation of law and whose ap- <br />pearance is required in any bond. <br /> <br /> Surety. The word "surety" shall be taken to include <br />every person, firm or corporation, other than a corporation <br />licensed to do business as a bonding company, entering into any <br />recognizance or bond, other than the principal. <br /> <br />Section 7-5. License for execution -- Required. <br /> <br /> it shall be unlawful for any person, other than a <br />corporation licensed ~o do business as a bonding company in the <br />state, within the city, to execute or acknowledge any bail bond <br />as surety for compensation or other thing deemed valuable at law, <br />without a license therefor. <br /> <br />Section 7-6. Same -- Fee. <br /> <br /> The amount of the fee for such license as is required <br />in section 7-5 shall be as fixed in the License Tax Ordinance of <br />the city. <br /> <br />Section 7-7. Same -- Not to permit execution without <br /> statutory certificate. <br /> <br /> ~;o license, as required in section 7-5, shall per- <br />mit the licensee to execute or acknowledge any bail bond in any <br />court or before any justice within the city unless and until the <br />holder of such license shall have first obtained a certificate <br />as required by section 58-371.2, Code of Virginia. <br /> <br />Section 7-8. Sureties to give receipt. <br /> <br /> Every surety shall, at the time of entering into any <br />bail bond, give to his principal a receipt in writing setting <br />forth fully and accurately: (a) The amount of compensation paid <br />or to be paid and from whom received; (b) the court and time in <br />which such principal is to appear; and, (c) the amount, kind and <br />brief description of any collateral received or promised there- <br />for. Such receipt shall be on forms prescribed by the city <br />manager. <br /> <br />Section 7-9. Sureties to keep records; inspection. <br /> <br /> Every surety shall keep a book or other record of all <br />bail bonds executed by him in which shall be accurately and fair- <br />ly written in the En9lish language the name of the principal, the <br />court and the time in which the principal is to appear, the amount <br /> <br />-3- <br /> <br /> <br />
