<br />GINIA~ 1961, BY REPEALING SECTIONS 7-3, 7-4, 7-6, 7-7, 7-8,
<br />7-9, 7-10, 7-11, 7-12~ 7-13~ 7-14, 7-15, 7-16, 7-17, 7-18,
<br />7-19~ 7-20~ 7-21~ 7-22, 7-23, 7-24~ 7-25, 7-26, 7-27~ 7-28w
<br />7-29~ AND 7-30 PERTAINING TO MUNICIPAL COURT~ JIV%~ENILE AND DO-
<br />I~ESTIC REt~ATIONS COURT, AND SPECIAL JUSTICES; AND A!4ENDING AND
<br />RENU[~BERiNG SECTIONS 7-5 and 7-5~! PERTAINING TO THE OFFICE AND
<br />DUTIES OF T~E. HIGH CONSTABLE~ AND ~4ENDING AND RENUMBERING SECTIONS
<br />7-31, 7-32, 7-33, 7-34, 7-35, 7-36, 7-37, 7-38, AND 7-39 PERTAIN-
<br />iNG TO BAIL BONDS; AND k~ENDING AND RENUI~BERING SECTIONS 7-42,
<br />7-43, 7--44, 7-45, 7-46, 7-47~ 7-48, AND 7-49 PERTAINING TO REGIS-
<br />T_RATION OF FELONS.

<br /> WHEREAS, the City of Portsmouth is authorized to enact
<br />as ordinances certain statutes from the Code of Virginia, provided
<br />such ora~n~nc_s are substantially consistent with the state law-
<br />and
<br />
<br /> ~HEREAS, the General Asse~ly of Virginia at its 1973
<br />session amended certain of those statutes of the Code of Virginia,
<br />1950; and
<br />
<br /> WHE?~F~AS, it is therefore necessary to amend a certain
<br />chapter of the Code of the City of Portsmonth~ Virginia, so as to
<br />K~ake said chapter conform to the changes in the Code of Virginia
<br />enacted by the General. Ass~b!y at its 1973 session.

<br /> NOW~ THEREFORE, BE iT ORDAINED by the Council o~ uh~
<br />City of Portsmouth, Virginia:

<br />1. That the Code of the City of Portsmouth~ Virginia,
<br />
<br />1961,

<br />7-20,
<br />7-30.

<br />be amended by repealing Sections 7-3~ 7-4t 7-6~ 7-7~ 7-8,
<br />7-10, 7-11~ 7-12, 7-13, 7-14, 7-15~ 7-16~ 7-17~ 7-18, 7-19,
<br />7-21~ 7-22, 7-23, 7-24t 7-25, 7-26, 7-27, 7-28, 7-29 and
<br />
<br /> 2. That the Code of the City of Portsmouth, Virginia,
<br />1961, be ~ended by amending and renm~bering Sections 7-5~ 7-5.1,
<br />7-31, 7-32, 7-33, 7-34, 7-35~ 7-36~ 7-37~ 7-38, 7-39, 7-42~ 7-43~
<br />7-44~ 7-45, 7-46, 7-47~ 4-48~ and 7-49, such amended and renumbered
<br />sections uo read as follows:

<br />Section 7-2° High Constable; duties.
<br />
<br /> ~ne city council shall appoint an officer ~o be known
<br />as ~he high constable, who shall serve at the pleasure of ~he
<br />council and who shall have such powers and duties in relation to
<br />the 9~neral district court of the city as are now or may hereafter
<br />
