197781 <br /> <br />AN ORDINANCE TO AMEND THE CODE OF THE CITY OF PORTSMOUTH, VIR- <br />GINIA, 1961, BY AMENDING SECTION 13-17.6 THEREOF PERTAINING TO <br />ABANDONED MOTOR VEHICLES. <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, the City of Portsmouth is authorized to en- <br />act as ordinances certain statutes from the Code of Virginia, <br />provided such ordinances are substantially consistent with the <br />state law; and <br /> WHEREAS, the General Assembly of Virginia at its <br />1973 session amended certain of those statutes of the Code of <br />Virginia, 1950; and <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, it is thezefore necessa~ry to amend a certain <br />section of the Code of the City of Portsmouth, Virginia, 1961, <br />so as to make said section conform to the changes in the Code <br />of Virginia enacted by the General Assembly at its 1973 session. <br /> NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED by the Council of the <br /> City of Portsmouth, Virginia: <br /> 1. That the Code of the City of Portsmouth, Virginia, <br /> 1961, be amended by amending Section 13-17.6 thereof, such <br /> amended section to read as follows: <br /> <br /> Section 13-17.6. Inoperative motor vehicles located on <br /> residential, commercial, or agricultural <br /> property; prohibition thereof. <br /> <br /> It shall be unlawful for any person, firm or corporation <br /> to keep, except within a fully enclosed building or structure, on <br /> any property zoned for residential or commercial or agricultural <br /> purposes any motor vehicle, trailer or semitrailer, as such are <br /> defined in Section 46.1-1, Code of Virginia (1950), whose condition <br /> is such that it is economically impractical to make it operative; <br /> provided, however, that the provisions of this act shall not apply <br /> to a licensed business which on June twenty-six, nineteen hundred <br /> seventy, is regularly engaged in business as an automobile dealer, <br /> salvage dealer or scrap processor. <br /> <br /> Adopted by the Council of the City of Portsmouth, Vir- <br /> ginia, at a meeting held July 10, 1973. . <br /> <br />Teste: <br /> <br />City Clerk <br /> <br /> <br />
