AN ORDINANCE TO AMEND THE CODE OF THE CITY OF PORTSMOUTH, VIR- <br />GINIA, 1973, BY ~AHENDING SECTION 37-96 THEREOF PERTAINING TO <br />REQUIREMENTS FOR TAXICAB PERMITS. <br /> <br /> Be it ordained by the Council of the City of Ports- <br />mouth, Virginia: <br /> <br /> 1. That the Code of the City of Portsmouth, 1973, <br />be am~nde~tby amending Section 37-96, such aa%~_nde~ section to <br />read as follows: <br /> <br />Section 37-96. Fee; issuance; refusal; revocation. <br /> <br /> If the city manager is satisfied that any applicant <br />hereunder is of the age. of eighteen (18) years or more, in good <br />health and with good eyesight, not having any physical or m~ntat <br />infirm/ty, not addicted to the use of intoxicating liquors or <br />drugs, morally fit and having knowledge of the traffic laws of <br />the state and city, the city manager may, upon the payment of a <br />fee of ten dollars ($10.00), issue to such applicant a taxicab <br />driver's permit. If the city manager is not satisfied as to the <br />qualifications and fitness of the applicant to operate a taxicab, <br />he shall refuse to issue such permit. Without regard to the <br />grounds for revocation set forth in section 37-103, the city <br />manager, at his discretion, may revoke any such permit within <br />thirty (30) days from the date of its issuance. <br /> <br /> 2.
