Functions of the Com~mittee. <br /> <br /> It shall be the function of the Citizens Advisory <br />Com_mittee to foster mutual understanding and respect among all <br />social., racial, cultural, ethnic, and minority groups in the city <br />and to seek solutions to problems concerning citizens of the city <br />with the object of providing an environment in which each citizen <br />has an e~ual opportunity to grow to his maximtun potential. <br /> <br />Section 2-269 Duties of the ~ <br /> <br />may: <br /> <br />tn carrying oun the assigned functions, the <br /> <br /> (1) Advise and consult with the City Council and the <br />ummy Hanager on matters pertaining to its assigned functions. <br /> <br /> (2) Encourage the cooperation and enlist the support <br />of all corm%unity groups, both public and private, in initiating <br />and coordinating discussions between individuals and groups to <br />lessen tension and promote understanding i~ the community. <br /> <br /> (3) Advise theaz~ectea=~ ' ~ goverp~mentai acen~es as to <br />the co~unity acceptance of specific propecns with special m~phasis <br />on human service programs~ public safety, housing~ urban renewal <br /> <br /> (4) Receive and revzew all grievances and initiate <br />reviews of tension areas pertaining to discrimination based on <br />race, creed, color, sex~ religion~ na'tionat origin, ahd denla[ of <br />or inability ~o procure cm~y services. <br /> <br /> (5) institute and conduct educational programs to <br />promote federat~ state, city and regional undertakings; and sponsor <br />meetings, for~s and courses of instruction leading to clearer <br />understanding of such undertakings among the citizens. <br /> <br /> (6) Conduct research to obtain factual date on the <br />status and treatmen~ of all social, racial, cultural and ethnic <br />grmups in the city for the purpose of developing the best means of <br />improving their status and treatment and of measurinq the effective- <br />ness of city programs. <br /> <br /> (7) Report its findings and reco~endations to the <br />~muy ~ ~ ~ ~ and/or City Manager at such times as the Committee <br />aeems it ~- = ~ <br /> <br />-2- <br /> <br /> <br />
