AN OPsDIN~2qCE CLOSING A PORTION OF HAWKINS STREET BET?YEEN COLU_~,iBIA STREET AND SOUTH STREET. WHEREAS, Portsmouth Redevelopment and Housing Authority has made application to vacate; close and discontinue the herein- after described portmon of Hawkins Street; and WHEREAS~ by resolution of this Council, adopted June 26, 1973, viewers were appointed pursuant to Section 15.1-364 of the Code of Virginia, 1950, as amended, to view the herein- after described portion of the said street and to report in writing whether in their opinion, any~ and if any, what inconvenmence would result from discontinuing the below described street; and WHEREASt the said viewers have reported in ~iting that in their opinion no inconvenience would result from closing and discontinuing said street. NOW, THEREFORE~ BE IT ORDAINED by the Council of the City of Portsmouth, Virginia, that that portion of Hawkins Street hereinafter described~ be closed and vacated as a public street. Ail that certain piece or parcel of land lying and being in the City of Portsmouth, Vir- ginia, and comprising that portion of Hawkins Street located between the southern right-of-way line of Colur~ia Street and the northern right- of-way line of South Street, excluding %hat por- tion which is part of Crawford Street. AND, BE IT FURTHER ORDAINED, that the hereinafter de- scribed portions of said vacated street shal! be expreys!y slfoject to a free and perpetual easement reserved unto the City of Ports- mouth for the construction, maintenance and repair of water mains, sewer mains~ and storm drainage facilities. A. BEGINNING at a point N87~05'56' E-30.21' from the former eastern property line of now or formerly Tidewater Teleradio Corporation which point is the intersection of the former right-of- way centerline of' Hawkins Street, and now eastern proper~y line of now or formerly Tidewater Teleradio Corporation, and the present southern right-of-way line of Columbia Street; thence S3~35'36" E-15 to a point; thence S87°O5'56" W-23.5' to a point; thence N3~35'36~ W-15' to a point; thence N87°05'56" E-23.5' to the point of beginn~J-n~ B.
