AN ORDINANCE TO CLOSE A PORTION OF AMELIA STREET SOUTH OF THE .... FORMER LINE OF SCOTT STREET. WHEREAS, W. cation to vacate and Amelia Street; and T. Ryan and C. S. Daniel have made appli- close that hereinafter described portion of WHEP~EAS, by resolution of this Council adopted January 22, 1974, viewers were-appointed pursuant to Section'i5.1-364 of the Code of Virginia, 1950, as amended, to view the herein- after described portion of the said street and to report ~n ~iting whether in their opinion any, and if any, what incon- venience would result from the discontinuing of the below de- scribed street; and WHEREAS, the said viewers have reported in writing that in their opinion no inconvenience would result from clos- ing and discontinuing said street~ NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED by the Council of the City of Portsmouth, Virginia, that Ail that parcel of land situate in the City of Portsmouth, Virginia, consisting of the portion of Amelia Avenue lying south of the southern line of Scott Street, and de- scribed as follows: Beginning at the south- west intersection of Scott Street and Amelia Avenue and thence ~n a southerly direction along the west line of Amelia Avenue 136.37 feet to the boundary line of "Grove Park", being also the line of the property of Dr. A. P. Long, Jr.; thence North along the line of the property of Dr. A. P. Long, Jr. 42° 26' 00" East 95 feet, more or less, to the eastern line of Amelia Avenue; thence North- erly along the eastern line of Amelia Avenue 62.5 feet, more or less, to the Southern line of Scott Street as it existed prior to its vacation on September 12, 1967, thence North 86° 20' 00'! West 60 feet to the southwest inter- section of Scott Street and Amelia Avenue, at the point of beginning; be and the same is hereby closed and vacated as a public street. Adopted by the Council of the City of Portsmouth, Virginia, at a meeting held February 26., 1974. Teste: City Clerk
