AN ORDINANCE TO AMEND SECTIO£qS 3 AND 18 OF THE CLASSIFICATION. <br />AND PAY P~N OF THE CITY TO ESTABLISH A CLASSIFICATION FOR THE <br />POSITION OF ASSISTANT POLICE CHIEF; TO CbhiNGE THE CIASSIFICA- <br />TION FOR DEPUTY FIRE CHIEF; AND TO C}iANGE T}{E COMPLEMENT OF <br />THE POLICE DEPARTMENT. <br /> <br /> Be it ordained bv the Council of the City of Ports- <br />mouth, Virginia: <br /> <br /> 1. That the Classification and Pay Plan of the City <br /> <br /> · ' tne~ e- <br />of Portsmouth 1974-7~, be amended by adding ~o Section 3 ~ ~ <br />of, the following classification and grade: <br /> <br />CLASSIFiCATiON <br />Assistant Police <br /> <br />GRADE <br />M-28 <br /> <br /> 2. That Section 3 of <br />Plan be amended by amending the <br />Fire Chief to read as follows: <br /> <br />said Classmsloa~mon and Pay <br />provisions pereaining to Deputy <br /> <br />CLASSIFICATION <br /> <br />Fire-Deputy Chief <br /> <br />GRADE <br />M-28 <br /> <br /> 3. That Section 18 of said Classification and Pay <br />Plan shall be amended to read as follows: <br /> <br />Section 18. Complements of Fire Department and Police <br /> Department. <br /> <br /> (a) The authorized complement of the Fire Department shall <br />be one Chief, one Deputy Chief, slx Batattion Chiefs, thirty-one <br />Captains, thirty-one Lieutenants, and one hundred forty-two <br />Privates. <br /> <br /> (b) The authorized complement of the Police Department <br />shall be one Chief~ one Assistant Chief, two lnspectors~ seven <br />Captamns, %welve Lieutenants, twenty-eight Sergeants, and one <br />hundred sixmy-two Patrolmen. <br /> <br /> h <br /> 4.
