AN ORDINANCE TO ~J4END TPDE CODE OF THE CITY OF PORTSMOUTH, VIRGINIA, 1973, BY ADDING TO C~APTER 2 THEREOF A NEW ARTICLE ESTABLISHI~G THZ JUVENILE A~.~D DOMESTIC RE~ATIO~S COURT ADVISORY COUNCIL. Be it ordained by the Council of the City of Portsmouth, Virginia: t. That the Code of the City of Portsmouth, Virginia, 1973, be amended by adding a new article to Chapter 2 thereof, such new article to read as follows: ARTICLE XVI. JUVENILZ AND DOMESTIC RELicTiONS COURT ADVISORY COUNCIL Section 2-330. Juvenile and Domestic Relations Court Advisory Counczi; establisb~?aent of. There is hereby established a council to be kno~ as the Juvenile and Domestic Relations Court Advisory Council. Such council shall consist of nine members who shall be appointed by_ City Council. City Council shall consult with the chief judge of the Juvenile and Domestic Relations Court before making any ap- pointment or reappointment to the Advisory Council. Section 2-331. Terms of council members; procedures for appointn~ent; vacancies; subsequent terms. Members of the Advisory Council shall be appointed by City Council for terms con~encing on November 1~ 1974. Th_tee members shall be appointed for terms of one year, three members for terms of two years, and three members for terms of three years. Upon the expiration of the original terms~ all subsequent appointments to the Advisory Council shall be for terms of three years. If a vacancy on the council shall occur for any reason, City Council shall, after consultation with the chief judge o~ the Juvenile and Domestic Relations Court~ appoint some person to serve for the remainder of the term. City Council may make appointments to the Advisory Council at any time which ~s not more than sixty days prior to the expiration of the term of the office to be filled, or when there is an actual vacancy on such council, or when a mer~er of the council has tendered his written resignation from the council. A suspension arising under the pro- visions of Section 2-333 shall not constitute a vacancy within the meaning of this section. Section 2-332. Duties of the Advisory Council; organization; compensation.
