Nonconforming structure. A legally existing building <br />or structure which fails to comply with the dimensional regula- <br />tions set forth in this chapters applicable to the district in <br />which such structure is located. <br /> <br /> Nonconforming use. A legally existing use of land or <br />building which fails to comply with the allowed or permitted uses <br />in Article IV of this chapter, either at the effective date of <br />this chapter, or as a result of subsequent amendments to this <br />chapter. <br /> <br /> Open burning. Any burning of co~ustib!e ma%eria!s <br />wherein the products of combustion are emitted directly into <br />the open air without passing through a stack or chin%ney. <br /> <br /> Parking space. The standing storage space for one <br />automobile of not less than nine (9) feet by twenty (20) feat <br />plus necessary driveway, access and maneuvering space as re- <br />quired by section 40-49. <br /> <br /> Plot. A piece or parcel of land in one ownership, <br />which may consist of a portion of a tract when the division of <br />said tract is permitted by the subdivision chapter of the city <br />a platted lot, or any combination of several lots occupied or <br />intended to be occupied by one principal building and its <br />accessory buildings and including all the access, yards and <br />other open spaces that are applicable, provided that in no case <br />shall a plot be smaller than the typical or average lot of a <br />recorded subdivision of which it may be a part. <br /> <br /> Plots corner. A plot which occupies the interior <br />angle at the intersection of two (2) street lines which make <br />an angle of more than forty-five (45) degrees and less than <br />one hundred thirty-five (135) degrees with each other. <br /> <br /> Plot width. The mean width measured <br />to its depth over as much of the plot depth as <br />achieve the minimum~required plot area. <br /> <br />at right angles <br />is needed to <br /> <br /> Residential use. Any use permitted by this chapter <br />in a residential district. <br /> <br /> Scrap processor. Anyone engaged exclusively in the <br />purchase, collection or salvage of scrap metals (including but <br />not limited to manufacturing by-products, obso!escentmachinery <br />and vehicles) for the specific purpose of processing said met- <br />als for the metals recovery industry (including but not limited <br />to steel mills, foundriesv smelters and refineries), and hav- <br />ing and using machinery and facilities designed for such proc- <br />cessing and making regular shipments of such processed scrap <br />materials in the normal course of business. <br /> <br />-4- <br /> <br /> <br />
