A subordinate building, the use <br />of which is incidental to that of a principal building on the <br />same plot. <br /> <br /> Building~ principal. A building in which is conducted <br />the principal use of the plot on which it is situated. In any <br />residential district any structure-containing a dwelling unit <br />shall be deemed to be the principal building on the plot on which <br />the same is situated. <br /> <br /> Building setback line. A line establishing the min- <br />imum allowable distance between the nearest portion of any building, <br />excluding the outermost three (3) feet of any uncovered porches, <br />steps, eaves, gutters and similar fixtures, and the center line <br />of any street when measured perpendicularly thereto. <br /> <br /> Commercial use. Any.use permitted by this chapter in <br />a commercial district. <br /> <br /> Designed shopping center. A retail business development <br />planned as a unit, characterized by groups of retail uses having <br />the conumon use of specifically designed off-street areas for access, <br />parking or service. <br /> <br /> Group home. A group home shall consist of a facility <br />to provide shelter for at least sev~n (7) infants under the age <br />of eighteen (18) years who are not able to reside in their own <br />homes. The group home shall provide adult supervision twenty-four <br />(24) hours per day~ The group home shall further provide rehabili- <br />tative services approved by the ~epar~ent of institutions of the <br />State of Virginia and shall be !!censed by the State of Virginia. <br /> <br /> Group housing project. A group housing project shall <br />consist of one or more residential structures on a site at least <br />three (3) acres in size where the building arrangement is such <br />that the property cannot be subdivided into conventional streets <br />and lots that meet the requirements of this chapter and the sub- <br />division chapter of the city. <br /> <br /> Group residence. A group residence shall consist of a <br />facility to provide group living accommodations for not less than <br />seven (7) nor more than twenty-four (24) non-crLminai persons <br />affected by age, mental and/or physical disabilities who reside <br />together under the auspices of a Dub!lc or quasi-public organization <br />devoted to the habitation and soc~a! supervision of such persons. <br /> <br />2 <br /> <br /> <br />
