AN OP.D!NANCE TO i~2~END SECTIONS 40-93, 40-95 AND 40-102 OF THE <br />CITY CODE PERTAINING TO CREATION OF HISTORIC DISTRICT; CO~-L~[- <br />ISSION OF ARCHITECTUiLA-L REVIEW~ SUBDISTRICTS AND BUILDING <br />P~EGULATIONS. <br /> <br /> BE IT ORDAINED by %he Council of ~he City of Ports- <br />moue, Virginia: <br /> <br /> 1. That Section 40-93, 40-95 and 40-102 be amended <br />and reordained to read as follows: <br /> <br />Section 40-93. District created; boundaries of district. <br /> <br /> In order to execute the purposes and objectives <br />declared in Section 40-92, there is hereby created in the city <br />a district to be known as the ':HiStoric District.'~ The <br />boundaries of such district are shown on a map entitled <br />"Historic District," which shall be filed and maintained <br />in the same manner required by Section 40-18 of this chapter <br />for other zoning maps. The terms Olde To~e and Cradock <br />are found in the National Register of Historic Places and <br />referred to on the Zoning Ordinance map. <br /> <br />Section 40-95. Commission of architectural review. <br /> <br /> (a) In order to further execute the purposes and <br />objectives declared in Section 40-92 and pursuant to the <br />power granted to and conferred upon the city, there is <br />hereby created and established a co~mmission of architectural <br />review which shall be known as the Commission of Architectural <br />Review, and hereafter in this article referred to~as "Commission-" <br /> <br /> (b) The Com~mssion shall consist of Seven (7) <br />members who are citizens of the City. They shall be appointed <br />by the City douncil for terms of office of five (5) years <br />from the date of appointment; provided that the terms of <br />office of the five (5) members first appointed shall be for <br />one (1) , two (2), three (3) ~ four (4), and five (5) years <br />respectively, and thereafter each member shall be appointed <br />for a term of five (5) years. Of the members first appointed, <br />one of the members of the commission shall be appointed <br />from at least three (3) nomznees made by the Portsmouth Bar <br />Association, one shai% be appointed from at least three (3) <br />nominees made by the Tidewater Section of the Virginia <br />Chapter of the ~mermcan Institute of Architects, one shall <br />be appointed from at least thr~ee (3) nominees made by <br />the Portsmouth Historical Association; one shall be appoint- <br />ed from at least three (3) nominees made by the Ports- <br />mouth Real Estate Board; and one shall be appointed <br /> <br /> <br />
