AN ORDINANCE AMENDING THE CODE OF THE CITY OF PORTSMOUTH, <br />VIRGINIA, 1973, BY ADDING TO SECTION 35-225 THEREOF, <br />SUBSECTION (e) PERTAINING TO EXTENDING TIME FOR QUALIFYING <br />FOR EXE~TION OF REAL ESTATE TAXES FOR CERTAIN ELDERLY <br />PEOPLE UPON SHOWING OF GOOD CAUSE. <br /> <br /> BE IT ORDAINED by the Council of the'City of <br />Portsmouth, Virginia: <br /> <br /> 1. That Section 35-225 of the Code of the City <br />of Portsmouth, Virginia, is ~mended by adding thereto sub- <br />section (e) to read as follows: <br /> <br />Section 35-225. Qualifying for exemption. <br /> <br /> (e) The City Manager, upon determing good cause, <br />may extend the date in which a person or persons have under <br />subsection (a) herein, to apply for the exemption of real <br />estate taxes for certain elderly people if such person had <br />qualified for such exemption in the immediate past tax year. <br /> <br /> 2.
