A~N ORDINA~CE TO ~-~ND THE CODE OF THE CITY OF PORTSMOUTH, <br />VIRGINIA, 1973, BY AMENDING SECTION 38-66 THEREOF, PERTAIN- <br />ING TO THE USE OF PUBLIC FIRE HYDRANTS; ~qNUAL CHARGE. <br /> <br /> BE IT ORDAINED by the Council of th~ City of <br />Portsmouth, Virginia: <br /> <br /> 1. That the Code of the City of Portsmouth, <br />Virginia, 1973, be amended and reordained by amending <br />Section 38-66 thereof to read as follows: <br /> <br />Section 38-66. Use of public fire hydrants - <br /> Annual charge <br /> <br /> Public fire hydrants shall be used for the ex- <br />tinguishment of fires. Such public fire hydrants may also <br />be used for other municipal uses with approval of the <br />City Manager or his designee. Prior to use for other <br />than extinguishment of fires, an agreement covering con- <br />ditions of use, including provision for payment for water <br />and other costs where applicable, shall be executed. <br /> <br /> Public fire hydrants within the corporate limits <br />of the City shall be paid for at the rate of fifty dollars <br />($50.00) each per annum. Public fire hydrants located in <br />a city or town other than this city, or in a countyt ~shall <br />be subject to contract, or if no contract is entered into <br />for such fire hydrants, they shall be paid for at the rate <br />of seventy-five dollars ($75.00) each per annum. Rates <br />for public fire hydrants shall be payable quarterly. Bills <br />for public fire hydrant rates shall not be subject to <br />discount. <br /> <br /> Adopted by the Council of the City of Portsmouth, <br />Virginia, at a meeting held July 27, 1976. <br /> <br />Teste: <br /> <br />City Clerk <br /> <br /> <br />
