AN ORDINANCE TO AMEND THE CODE OF THE CITY OF PORTSMOUTH, VIRGINIA, BE AMENDING SECTIONS 21-32, 21-33, 21-38, 21-39, 21-40, 21-42, 21-43, 21-44 AND 21-45 THEREOF, PERTAINING TO CRIMES AlqD OFFENSES INVOLVING USE AND POSSESSION OF WEAPONS. BE IT ORDAINED by the Council of the City of Portsmouth, Virginia: 1. That Section 21-32 be amended to read as follows: Section 21-32. Wilfully discharging firearms in public places. (a) If any person wilfully discharge or cause to be discharqed any firearm in any street in a city or town, o~ in any public place of public business or place of public gathering, he shall be guilty of a class 1 misdemeanor; provided, that this section shall not apply to any law en- forcement officer in the performance of his official duties nor to any other person whose said wilful act is otherwise justifiable or excusable at law in the protection of his life or property, or is otherwise justifiable or excusable at law in the protection of his life or property~ or is otherwise specifically authorized by law. (b) If any person wilfully discharge or cause to be discharged any arrows, nails or bullets from a bow or crossbow, or stones from a sling or any other sim- ilar implement in any public place or places of public gathering he shall be guilty of a class 1 misdemeanor. 2. That Section 21-33 be amended to read as follows: Section 21-33. Pointing or brandishing firearm or object similar in appearance. (a) It shall be unlawful for any person to point, or brandish any firearm, as hereinafter described, or any object similar an appearance to a firearm, whether capable of being fired or not, in such manner as to reasonably induce fear in the mind of another. Persons violating the provisions of this section shall be guilty of a class 1 misdemeanor. (b) Any police cfficer, in the performance of his duty in making an arrest under the provisions of this section shall not be civilly liable in damages for in-
