AN ORDINANCE TO AMEND THE CODE OF THE CITY OF PORTS~IrfH, ~, <br />1TAB~.%973, BY ADDING TO CHAPTER 2 q~EROF,' A NEW DMSION TO ARbiteR X ES- <br /> SHING THE SOCIAL SERVICES DEPA~IF~NT ADVISO~f CC~4~ISSION. <br /> <br />BE IT ORDAINED by the Council of the City of Portsmouth, Virginia: <br /> <br /> 1. That the Code of the City Of Portsmouth, Virginia, 1973, be <br />amended by a~8~ng a new division to Article X of Chapter 2 thereof, such <br />new division to read as follows: <br /> <br />DMSIC~ 3. Social Services Department <br /> Advisory Commission <br /> <br />Section 2-236. Established. <br /> <br /> There is hereby established an Advisory Cu~uHssion to be known as <br />the "Social Services Depa~f~nt Advisory Cc~Lu.4ssion of the City of <br />Portsmouth". <br /> <br />Section 2-237. Composition; appointment and te~m of m~mbers. <br /> <br /> The Commission shall consist of seven (7) r~bers who shall be <br />appointed by City Council~ The members of the Cu~u~ssion shall be <br />appointed for terms of Four (4) years; provided, however, that of those <br />first appointed, three (3) shall be appointed for two (2) years, t~o (2) <br />for three (3) years, and three (3) for four (4) years, for terms cc~mencing <br />on July 1, 1977. No person shall serve r~Dre than two (2) consecutive <br />terr0s. <br /> <br />Section 2-238. Vacancies; removal of ~embers. <br /> <br /> All vacancies on the Cc~mission shall be filled by the City Council <br />for the une_~pired portion of the temm. Any member of the Cu~u~ssion may <br />be removed by the City Council at any t/ma. <br /> <br />Section 2-239. Election of officers; adoption of rules, re~lations. <br /> <br /> The Cc~a~ssion shall annually elect a chai~n and secretary frc~ <br />among its members. The Cormuission shall adopt such .rules, regulations <br />and by-laws as it shall deem necessary for the proper and efficient con- <br />duct of its business. <br /> <br />Section 2-240. Meetings. <br /> <br /> ~e ~ssion shall hold regut~r m~etings at least by-monthly on such <br />days and at such hours as may be fixed by the Cc~ission. Special <br />n~=etings may be held at such other times as may be fixed by the Cor/r~ssion <br />or upon the call of the chairman or on the petition of at least one-half <br />of the members. <br /> <br /> <br />
