AN OP~DINANCE TO ASCEND THE CODE OF THE CITY OF PORTSMOITi~, '~iRGINIA, 1973, BY AMENDING SECTION 38-43 ~HEREOF, PERTAINING TO ~'~m~S FOR ES- BE IT ORDAINED by the Council of the City of Portsmouth, Virginia: 1. That Section 38-43 of the Code of the City of Portsmouth, Virginia, be ~aended to read as follows: Section 38-43. Who may turn water back on; fee for turning on upon term/nation of service for nonpayment; in- spection fee when water is turned on by unauthorized person. When water servmce to premises has been shut off by the department of public utilities, no one except a representative of the depa~'hL~nt of public utilities may turn the water on again. When the water sex-vice to a premises has been shut off at the meter cutoff valve for nonpayment, the amount due and a fee of seven dollars and fifty cents ($7.50) for turning on shall be paid before the water service will be restored; provided that,,' in ~ event water service to premises bas been turned on by an unauthorized person, there sb~ll be an inspection fee of seven dollars and fifty cents ($7.50) to cover the cost of the requisite inspection. Such fees shall not apply to shutting off water service at the tap cutoff valve but the provisions of Section 38-48 (d) shall govern. When a person applies for initial water service, there shall be a fee of ($7.50) charge for establishing a new account and turn/rig on water at the new residence. When an existing customer moves frc~ one residence to another, there shall be a fee of ($5.00) charge for transferring the acco~knt and turning on the water at the new residence~ 2.
