If the effected employee's current rate is higher than <br />the "O" step of the lower grade, the employee will be <br />placed in a special payroll class and retained in this <br />status until, through promotion, reclassification or <br />adjustments due to salary surveys, the employee can be <br />re-established under the Classification and Pay Plan at <br />a regular grade and step. <br /> <br />SECTION 14. Complements of Fire Department and Police Department <br /> <br />(a) <br /> <br />The authorized complement of the Fire Department shall be <br />one Chief, one Assistant Chief, eight Battalion Cheifs, <br />thirty-six Captains, Thirty-five Lieutenants, and one <br />hundred thirty-four Firefighters. <br /> <br />The authorized complement of the Police Department shall <br />be one Chieft two Assistant Chiefs, one Field Operations <br />Commander, eight Captains, eleven Lieutenants~ twenty- <br />eight Sergeants and one hundred sixty-two Police Officers. <br /> <br />SECTION 15. Salaries For Unclassified Positions <br /> <br />(a) The annual salaries of the following unclassified positions <br /> shall be the amounts herein stated: <br /> <br />(a) City Manager <br />lb) Clerk of Circuit Court <br />(c) City Assessor <br />(d) City Attorney <br />(e) City Clerk <br /> <br />$43,452.00 <br />$30,163.00 <br />$25,000.00 <br />$40,403~00 <br />$12,135.00 <br /> <br />(b) <br /> <br />The office of the City Attorney shall receive an additional <br />twelve thousand dollars ($12,000) as annual compensation <br />from the Portsmouth School Board for professional services <br />rendered, subject to School Board approval. The City <br />Attorney shall receive from this amount four thousand <br />($4,000) annual compensation, which is included in his total <br />salary quoted in Section 15A. <br /> <br />(c) <br /> <br />Part-time employees, whose positions are not classified, <br />shall receive compensation as prescribed by the Department <br />Head and Director of Personnel. <br /> <br />SECTION 16. <br /> <br />Uniform Allowances <br /> <br />Any employee who is required to wear a uniform in the regular <br />performance of official duties shall be furnished three (3) <br />changes of such uniforms each week at no cost to the employee. <br /> <br /> <br />
