Overtime (a) Eligibility for overtime compensation shall be determined by the Department Head and the Director of Personnel in accordance with approved personnel practices except for sworn officers of Fire and Police Departments. (b) Overtime work for sworn officers of the Fire and Police Department must be approved in advance by the Chief of the respective department before compensation will be granted. Emergency cases will be reviewed by the Chief before compensation is granted. (c) The City Manager may, at his discretion, authorize pay- ment for overtime to any employee. SECTION 11. Additional Compensation Firefighters and _Police Officers (a)~ Any sworn officer of the Fire and Police Department below the rank of Assistant Chief placed on special assignment duty shall be paid at the rate of six dollars ($6.00) per hour for the time spen~ on such duty. Such additional compensation must be entered by the Chief of the Departmen~ on the next succeeding payroll submitted to the Finance Director. Ail special assignments must be authorized by the Chief of the Department, or during his absence or disability, his duly authorized designee. Overtime work shall nov be considered special assignment duty. (b) Any sworn officer of the Fire or Police Department who, in his official capacity when not on a regular assigned period of duty, is required to appear in court, shall be paid at the rate of ten dollars ($10.00).for the first two hours or portion thereof, and five dollars ($5.00) for each subsequent hour or major portion thereof. (c) Any sworn officer df the Fire or Police Department who is required to wear ciyilian clothes in the regular perfor- mance of official duties shall he'paid an additional Thrity-five dollars ($35.00) per month as. a clothing allowance. This allowance will be paid-quarterly com- mencing with the first fiscal quarter after assignment. (d) Sworn personnel in the graces of Police Officers Police Sergeant, and Police Lieutenant shall receive an allowance in the amount of fifty dollars ($50.00) per month as com- pensation for being required to wear a handgun at ail times.
