AN ORDINANCE CLOSING THE FOLLOWING STREET: A PORTION OF EIGHTH STREET BE~4EEN FAYETTE STREET AND MADISON STREET° WHEREAS~ Portsmouth Redevelopment And Housing Authority has made application to vacate, close and discontinue the hereinafter-described portion of a certain street; and WHEREAS~ by a Resolution of this Council adopted August 22~ 1978, viewers were appointed pursuant to Section 15.1-364~ Code of Virginia, 1950, as amended, to view the hereinafter-described portion of said street, and to report in writing whether in their opinion, any, and if anyf what inconvenience would result from discontinuing the below described street~ and WHEREASF the said viewers have reported in writing that in their opinion, no inconvenience would result from the closing and discontinuing of said street. NO~, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED by the Council of the City of Portsmouth, Virginia, that that portion of said street hereinafter described be closed and vacated as a public street: EIGHTH STREET Ail that certain piece or parcel of land, lying and being in the City of Portsmouth, Vir- ginla~ and comprising that portion of Eighth Street between Fayette Street and Madison Street as more particularly shown on a plat entitled: "Plat Showing Closures of Portions of Eighth Street, Portsmouth, Virginia, for Portsmouth Redevelopment And Housing Authority~ Effinghs/n Project, VA. R-72", prepared by Hassell & Folkes, Surveyors-Engineers~ Portsmouth~ Virginia, dated June !9~ t977~ a copy of which is attached hereto. AND BE IT FURTHER ORDAINED that the same is hereby closed and vacated as a publi6' street, that the City of Portsmouth, Virginia, reserves unto itself perpetual easements, rights and privileges to install, maintain, operate~and replace1 ~ sewer mains, sewer drains, sanitary sewers, stozuu drains, water mains and laterals and electric power lines within, over, under and across those portions of the hereinabove named street.
