1978-133 <br /> <br />AN ORDINANCE CLOSING THE FOLLOWING <br />NEWPORT AVENUE. <br /> <br />STREET: <br /> <br />A PORTION OF <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, Surry Associates have made application to <br />vacate and close and discontinue the hereinafter described <br />portion of a certain street; and <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, by a Resolution of this Council adopted August <br />8, 1978, viewers were appointed pursuant to Section 15.1-36~.. <br />Code of Virginia, 1950, as amended, to view the hereinafter <br />described portion of said street and to report in writing <br />whether in their opinion any, and if any, what inconvenience <br />would result from discontinuing the below described street; <br />and <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, the said viewers have reported in writing <br />in their opinion no inconvenience would result from the <br />closing and discontinuing of said street. <br /> <br />that <br /> <br /> NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED by the Council of the City <br />of Portsmouth, Virginia, that that portion of said street <br />hereinafter described be closed and vacated as a public street. <br /> <br />NEWPORT AVENUE <br /> <br /> Beginning at the southeast ifi%ersection <br />of High Street and Newport Avenue and from <br />thence running east along the south side of <br />High Street 60 feet; thence south and parallel <br />with Newport Avenue 208 feet to Meander Road; <br />thence westerly along Meander Road to Newport <br />Avenue; and thence north along Newport Avenue <br />176 feet, more or less, to the point of be- <br />ginning.
