e. If after audit and investigation, the director determines <br />that the person or persons are qualified for exemption, he shall <br />so certify to the treasurer of the City of Portsmouth, who shall <br />deduct the amount of the exemption from the claimant's real estate <br />tax liability and shall adjust the tax records accordingly. Any <br />remaining tax due shall be billed in equalins%allments in accord- <br />ance with Section 35-2 herein. <br /> <br /> f. The city manager, upon determining good cause, may extend <br />the date in which a person or persons have under su~-section (a) <br />herein, to apply for the exemption of real estate taxes for certain <br />elderly people if such person had qualified for such exemption ix <br />the i~ediate past ta~ year. <br /> <br /> Adopted by the Council of the City of Portsmouth, Virginia, <br />at a meeting held October 24, 1978. <br /> <br />Teste: <br /> <br />City Clerk <br /> <br /> <br />
