AN ORDINANCE TO AMEND THE CODE OF THE CITY OF PORTSMOUTH, <br />VIRGINIA, 1973, BY AMENDING SECTION 2-18 THEREOF, PERTAINING <br />TO MANDATORY RETIREMENT OF THOSE OFFICERS AND EMPLOYEES NOT <br />SUBJECT TO THE RETIREMENT SYSTEM. <br /> <br /> BE IT ORDAINED by the Council of the City of Portsmouth, <br />Virginia, that Section 2-18 of the Code of the City of <br />Portsmouthf Virginia, be amended and reordained to read as <br />follows: <br /> <br />Section 2-18. Mandatory retirement. <br /> <br /> Any officer or employee who attains the age of sixty- <br />five (65) years of age shall be retired on the first day of <br />the month following the attaining of such age; provided, <br />however, that any officer or employee who was employed and <br />who had attained the age of sixty-five (65) years of age at <br />the date of adoption of this section shall be retired effective <br />October 1, 1978. <br /> <br /> Adopted by the Council of the City of Portsmouth, <br />Virginia, at a meeting held June 13, 1978. <br /> <br />Teste: <br /> <br />City Clerk <br /> <br /> <br />
