is paid within one hour after the notice is attached to such vehicle, ~ <br />the amount of the penalty shall be two dollars ($2.00) instead of three <br />dollars ($3.00). If the owner of such vehicle fails to make such payment <br />within seventy-two (72) hours of the tim~ when such notice was attached to <br />such vehicle, then an additional notice shall be given such o%v~er and an <br />additional penalty of two dollars ($2.00) shall be charged for the add- <br />itional notice. The failure of such owner to pay the penalty for the <br />violation and the two dollars ($2.00) for the additional notice within <br />eight (8) days from t~he date of violation shall render such o~0~er subject <br />to -the penalty provide~ in Section 23-292. <br /> <br />Sechion 23-293. Procedures and penalties for violation of regulations <br /> of Portsmouth P~rking Authority. <br /> <br /> (a) It shall be u~lawful for any person to violate any regulation <br />of the Porh~smoutb Parking Authority relating to parking on lots oontrolled, <br />operated or used by said authori~ for the pui~pose of providing parking <br />for the general public. Violators shall be proceeded against as hereinafter <br />set forth. <br /> <br /> (b) It shall be the duty of the police ' officers of the City, acting <br />in accordance with instructions issued by the Chief of Police, to repozt: <br /> <br /> (1) q3ne number of each parking meter which indicated t~k%t th~ <br />vehicle occupying the parking space adjacent to such parking meter is or has <br />been parked in violation of any such regulation. <br /> <br />(2) The state license number of such vehicle. <br /> <br /> (3) The ler~th of ~ during which such vehicle is parked, <br />in violation of any such reglulation. <br /> <br /> (4) Any other facts, a knowledge of which is necessary to <br />a thorough underst~l~2Lug of the circL~ustances attending such violation. <br /> <br /> (c) Each such police officer shall attach to such vehicle a <br />notice to the~ ~er thereof, that such vehicle bas been p~rked in vio- <br />lation of a provision of such regulation and instructing such owner to <br />report ho the Portsmouth Police Deoartment Headquarters in regard to <br />such violation. Each such owner may, within seventy-two (72) hours of <br />the time~ when such notice %~as attached to such vehicle, pay a penalty <br />· n the shun of three dollars ($3.00) for each hour, or fraction thereof, <br />during w~ch such vehicle occupied such parking space in violation of <br />any of t/~_e provisions of such regulation; provided, however, that if such <br />penalty is paid ~f_thin one hour after the notice is atteche~ to such <br />v~hicle, then the ~u~unt of t~he penalty shall be two dollars ($2.00) <br />instead of three dollars ($3.00).
