AN ORDINANCE TO AMEND SECTIONS 7-26 AND 7-30 OF THE CODE OF THE CITY OF PORTSMOUTH, VIRGINIA, 1973, PERTAINING TO CEMETERIES AND SCHEDULE OF FEES AND CHARGES. BE IT ORDAINED by the Council of the City of Portsmouth, Virginia: 1. Under ordinary circumstances, all burials in City cemeteries shall take place between the hours of 9:00 A. M. and 4:00 P. M. The person in charge of the cemetery may, however, in an emergency or under extraordinary circumstances permit burials at other hours. B~rials after 4:00 P. M. on Saturdays, Sundays and holidays are prohibited. Section 7-30. Schedule of prices and charges for work performed; payment. (a) The following schedule of prices is hereby established for work performed in the several cemeteries in the City: (1) For opening graves four (4) feet and under in length ....................... $ 65.00 (2) For opening graves four (4) feet and under in length on Saturdays, Sundays and holidays .......................... 90.00 (3) For opening graves over four (4) feet in length ............................. 125.00 (4) For opening graves over four (4) feet in length on Saturdays, Sundays and holidays .............................. 175.00 (5) For disinterring and reinterring bodies, the charge will be double that which is quoted above. (6) For opening graves for burials after 4:00 P. M. weekdays, an additional charge of fivty dollars ($50.00) is imposed. (b) The above fees and charges shall be paid before the work is performed and a receipt shall be taken therefor.
