kN ORDINANCE RI) AM~qD THE CODE OF THE CITY OF PORTSM~, VIRGINIA, 1973, BY ADDING TO CHAP±'~ 2 THEREOF, ARTICLE XVIII ESS~BLISHING THE JAIL ADVISORY BOARD. BE IT ORDAINED by the Council of the City of Portsmouth, Virginia: 1. %~nat the Code of the City of Portsmouth, Virginia, 1973, be amended by adding to Chapter 2 thereof, Article XVIII, such new Article to read as follows: ARTICLE XVIII: Jail Advisory Board Section 2-350. Established. There is hereby established an advisory board to be known as the "Jail Advisory Poard of the City of Portsmouth". Section 2-351. Composition; appointment and term. of ~mbers. The board shall consist of seven members who shall be appointed by the City C~dncil. T%e m~mbers of the board shall be a__ppointed for tenms of four (4) years; provided, however, of those first appointed, %hree (3) shall be appointed for two (2) years, two (2) for three [3) years, and two (2) for four (4) years. The members shall bold office during their respective terms and until their successors ere appointed. Section 2-352. Vacancies. Ail vacancies au ~he board shall be filled by the City Council for the une~xpired portion of t~ term. Any member of the board may be removed by the Ci~lz Council at $~y time if it finds that the best interest of ~he beard ~_~Id be se~ by such action. Section 2-353. The board shall adopt such rules, regulations and by-laws as it shall deem necessary for the proper and efficient conduct of its business. Section 2-354. .~etings.
